Grandma’s Pies
Our Story
30 years ago, a group of Grandma’s got together to make pies for a fundraiser to help build the new gym at South Olive School. These Grandma’s also belonged to a woman’s group called the Loving Service ladies group at South Olive Church. After the fundraiser, the Grandma’s decided that they would continue making pies to sell and donate the money to other kingdom causes at the church, in the Holland area and around the world!
For 20+ years, the pies were made and sold in the brick home across the street from the church until the owners of the home both passed away in 2023 and 2024. The pie ministry has since moved across the street to the church property where the pies are now made monthly by a group of volunteers in the church kitchen and sold in the Bin on the church property. Many of the original Loving Service ladies have since passed away, but other church members continue to join to help in this great cause!
The pies are made the second Monday of each month throughout the year, with nine delicious varieties available: Blueberry, Cherry, Apple, Blackberry, Cherry, Peach, Pecan, Peanut Butter (no bake), Pumpkin, Rhubarb, and Strawberry Rhubarb. The Bin is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, making it easy for the community to stop by and support this ongoing ministry.
With the Bin now on the church property and the Church’s continued relationship with South Olive School, the school was also invited to continue selling their Pig in the Blankets in the Bin.
This fundraiser that was started many years ago for both the pies and pigs helps build God’s kingdom here on earth and continues the legacy of these special Grandmas who started Grandma’s Pies!
